About the Sedbergh Orchestra

Ten years after the founding of the Pepperpot Music Makers orchestra at Sedbergh Primary School in 2000, it seemed like a good idea to start a community orchestra to cater for any whose orchestral experience began that way and for other players of any age living in or around Sedbergh. So it was that the Sedbergh Orchestra came into being in mid October 2010.

Drawing its players from the local musical community, the orchestra has now built itelf an enviable reputation. We put on three classical music concerts per year at St Andrew's Church or other venues in Sedbergh, the summer concert taking place during the biennial Sedbergh Music Festival.

Rehearsals take place at St Andrew’s Church on Thursday evenings from 7.15 until 9.00, with a short break for refreshments. Currently there are thirty members, making up a remarkably well-balanced group. We work hard and enjoy ourselves at the same time. We are pleased to welcome a few guest players to swell the ranks, but would welcome more regular players. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Nicola Cann, by phone 015396 20129 or by email [email protected], or any member of the orchestra.
